Emily is thrilled to be in her first year at Holy Family Academy. A 2020 graduate of St. Olaf College, Emily is a sacred music enthusiast, working with various choral programs around the Twin Cities. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Emily started her teaching career as a middle and high school teacher in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in addition to working with the youth and adult choirs at Good Shepherd in Golden Valley. When she is not making music at Holy Family, she can be found assistant conducting and singing with the Liturgical Choir at the University of St. Thomas, working with the Handmaids, singing with Magnum Chorum, or bouncing between parishes as a freelance singer. Emily is completing her Masters of Arts in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas and also pursues opportunities to learn more about music pedagogy, specifically the Ward and Kodaly methods. Emily is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and edits articles for the Minnesota Chapter’s online publication. Emily also edits a weekly web series, Fish on Fridays, which focuses on Catholic faith and formation with another theology teacher from Wisconsin.
Emily was pleased to join former Director of Music Scott Turkington in La Crosse, Wisconsin last summer for a wonderful week of youth choir camp. Emily has also had the pleasure of touring domestically and internationally with various choirs and attending the Extraordinary Music Workshop hosted by the Dominican Priory in Krakow, Poland.
When Emily is not teaching, singing, or doing homework, she can be found reading, hiking, or enjoying nature.
